OM4 Bend-Insensitive Fiber Cables

OM4 Bend-Insensitive Fiber Cables reduce the amount of performance loss normally associated with excessive bending, twisting, and stretching of fiber optic cables. These fiber cables use a low-index trench within the glass, allowing the optical light to reflect back through the core and onto its final destination. Bend-Insensitive fiber can be installed within tight corners or spaces, protecting against performance loss without increasing light leakage. OM4 Bend-Insensitive fiber cables are therefore best deployed in networks and datacenters which would normally experience excessive light leaks, performance loss, or errors due to physical stress.

OM4 fiber improves on its predecessor’s abilities by increasing data transmission distance by a minimum of 30 meters per application, including 40G and 100G rates. Most commonly used to ‘future-proof’ networks, OM4 fiber outperforms most requirements and increases available bandwidth from 1500 MHz*km to 3500 MHz*km for 850nm light sources. OM4 Bend-Insensitive fiber cables are available with pre-terminated LC, SC, or ST connectors, along with either traditional Riser (OFNR) or fire-retardant Plenum (OFNP) rated insulation. Available lengths range from 1 to 100 meters with additional custom lengths available upon request.
