OptoSpan fiber media converters provide a low cost, energy-efficient solution for connecting two different network segments, including fiber-to-copper, via Power Over Ethernet (PoE). OptoSpan media converters support Ethernet connections at distances up to 80 kilometers and come equipped with a powered device (PD) signature for detecting and monitoring power, as well as over-current protection, under-current detection and fault protection input. They also include link fault pass-through capabilities, monitoring fiber and copper ports to prevent signal or data loss. All converters comply with the IEE802.3af Power Over Ethernet standard.
