96 Fiber MTP Elite Cables
96 Fiber MTP Elite Cables are currently deployed as an alternative to dozens of individual multifiber cables, such as duplex LC or lower performing MPO assemblies. Each 96 Fiber MTP Elite Cable is available in two distinct configurations including eight 12 fiber connectors or four 24 fiber connectors. These popular configurations allow a wider range of compatibility across devices while providing an easy for upgrades when required.
For example, while 10G communications require only two fibers, most communication demands are moving towards the 40G and 100G rates due to higher quality content, or simply an increase in the volume of current content. An increase in communication speed requires additional fibers to be deployed in order to act as lanes for the data to be transported on, thus requiring 8 fibers for 40G and 20 fibers for 100G. Traditionally, 12 fiber MPO or MTP fiber cables have dominated the industry due to their adequate performance in the 10G and 40G spectrum but currently fall short in achieving 100G transmission rates. The higher density 24 fiber MTP Elite connector allows for up to three individual 40G signals to be transferred through a single connector pair, which is able to efficiently utilize each fiber without a loss in performance.
All OptoSpan 96 Fiber MTP Elite Cables utilize a higher performing connector than the standard MTP series, further reducing insertion loss to an absolute minimum when compared to traditional MPO connectors. A reduction in insertion loss allows a network architect to design a solution with additional devices designed to access the internal fibers effortlessly, such as a Fiber Breakout Cable or a Fiber Cassette. MTP Elite connectors are best reserved for networks requiring the absolute highest performance, such as critical 100G backend trunks and networks which contain numerous connections and devices.
96 Fiber MTP Elite Cables can be reconfigured to carry distinct signals throughout any of its internal fibers, such as two independent 40G signals and three independent 100G signal within the same assembly, allowing a datacenter to adapt as required without reinstalling large fiber assemblies throughout a datacenter or on site.
