144 Fiber Plenum MTP Elite Breakout Cables

144 Fiber Plenum MTP Elite Breakout Cables have been developed to be much more resistant to fire. These MTP Elite Breakout Cables replace the traditional MPO connector with a higher performing alternative, the MTP Elite developed by US Conec. The MTP Elite connector experiences a similar manufacturing process to that of the standard MTP connector, with the exception that only connectors which meet strict manufacturing tolerances are approved.

144 Fiber Plenum MTP Elite Breakout Cables are most commonly used to assist in the conversion from 10G to 40G rates and beyond. The introduction of parallel optics used in higher performing transceivers has rendered much of the cabling infrastructure for 10G useless in terms of compatibility. While previous 10G rates required only two fibers, 40G requires 8 fibers, 100G requires 20 fibers, and 120G requires 24 fibers for full usability. Fiber breakout cables are able to bridge the gap between these technologies by combining multiple individual fibers into a single connector. For example, currently a popular configuration includes a single QSFP+ to 4x (four) SFP+ transceivers in order to establish a 40G link from four individual 10G signals.
