Memory for the M4000 servers are contained on Memory Boards. Each Memory Board contains eight DIMM sockets that support 1, 2, 4 and 8GB DIMMs. The M4000 server can be configured with two to four Memory Boards allowing for a maximum system memory capacity of 256GB (using 8GB DIMMs; 64GB per Memory Board). Memory for the M4000 servers can be expanded in two waysby adding additional Memory Boards (populated with 1, 2, 4 and 8GB DIMMs) and by replacing DIMMs in existing Memory Boards with DIMMs of a higher capacity. DIMMs on the Memory Boards are divided into two groups--A and B. DIMMs in Group A must be the same or larger capacity than the DIMMs in Group B. Group B can have the same number of DIMMs as Group A or it can have zero DIMMs. The DIMMs in each Group should be the identical capacity across ALL the Memory Boards in a server. The SELX2B1Z-TP is a 16GB product consisting of 8x2GB DDR2 DIMMs, the SELX2C1Z-TP is a 32GB product consisting of 8x4GB DDR2 DIMMs. Both products can be used to increase the memory capacity of existing Sun Memory Boards in M4000 servers. The SELX2B1Z-TP is a 16GB product consisting of a Memory Board populated with 8x2GB DDR2 DIMMs, the SELX2C1Z-TP is a 32GB product consisting of Memory Board populated with 8x4GB DDR2 DIMMs. Both can be used add additional memory capacity to the M4000 servers.

Each Memory Board contains eight DIMM sockets that support 1, 2, 4 and 8GB DIMMs. The M5000 server can be configured with two to eight Memory Boards allowing for a maximum system memory capacity of 512GB (using 8GB DIMMs; 64GB per Memory Board). Memory for the M5000 servers can be expanded in two waysby adding additional Memory Boards (populated with 1, 2, 4 or 8GB DIMMs) and by replacing DIMMs in existing Memory Boards with DIMMs of a higher capacity. Group B can have the same number of DIMMs as Group A or it can have zero DIMMs. The DIMMs in each Group should be the identical capacity across the first four Memory Boards in a server and, if present the DIMMs in each Group should be the identical capacity across the last four Memory Boards in a server.
