8 Fiber MPO Breakout

8 Fiber MPO Breakout Cables

MTP FiberShield Specifications

8 Fiber MPO Breakout Cables leverage the original multifiber solution, the MPO connector. Capable of combining multiple fiber strands into a single unit, the MPO connector has long been the standard when a situation called for high density and high performance. As the quality of multimedia and the size of data continues to increase, higher bandwidth and faster communications becomes essential to all industries. Alternative higher performing connectors are currently available and include the standard MTP and MTP Elite connectors developed by US Conec.

All 8 fiber MPO cables feature OptoSpan’s new and exclusive FiberShield design. The FiberShield design uses three times the PVC jacket and DuPont Kevlar to protect the delicate optical fibers located inside the cables, resulting in a flexible yet robust 4.5mm cable that is 5x stronger than the standard 3.0mm cable.

8 Fiber MPO Breakout Cables are most commonly used in converting existing 10G networks to higher performing 40G and 100G speeds. For example, a QSFP+ transceiver may be configured to accept four separate 10G signals from SFP+ transceivers. This method extends the life of established cabling infrastructure, reduces overall cost, and maintains setup time to an absolute minimum. Additional applications include interconnecting existing fiber panels in order to consolidate fibers for migration to higher communication rates.
