72 Fiber MPO Breakout Cables

72 Fiber MPO Breakout Cables are most commonly used in the migration from 10G to 40G and 100G data transmission rates Additional applications include consolidating dozens of LC fiber patch cables into single MPO fiber harness for use with a fiber cassette or fiber patch panel, this reduces unnecessary bulk, cost, and clutter associated with running separate assemblies.

72 Fiber MPO Breakout Cables come configured in six 12 fiber or three 24 fiber MPO connectors. The 12 fiber MPO connector is currently the most popular due to being used in 40G transceivers, such as the QSFP+. The lower fiber density of these units results in less insertion loss when compared to 24 fiber MPO connectors. The high density 24 fiber connector on the other hand is being used to establish up to three separate 40G (40GBASE-SR4) links, utilizing all available fibers unlike the lower densities which leave up to four fibers blank.
